Expressions of Guánica’s Mayor regarding demolition of homes

Guaniqueño, we continue the process of demolishing houses affected by the earthquakes. We have lived very painful moments with each family.

In these structures (between cement and steel), dreams, illusions, years of great sacrifice and work have fallen. Homes that, for decades, kept the history of these families, their memorable memories and each of their experiences.

It has been a sad process, but we will come out stronger. Today we have our sights set on rebuilding our town.

I want to bring these families a message of encouragement, hope and peace. Together we will rewrite history. They are not alone! They will always have our support and the love, affection and love of a people who also feel their pain.

We are about to complete the emergency executive order that included the demolition of 16 structures that posed serious danger to citizens. We are four to finish that first phase.

We will carry on with the determination that characterizes us and with a new hope.
